This is the statement of the US’s Travel Magazine Travel off Path in the article “3 Reasons This Country Is Becoming Asia’s New Tourism Hotspot”.
In the article, Travel off Path stated that Thailand is one of the first destinations that comes to mind whenever people think of travelling to Southeast Asia. However, according to the magazine, to stay away from crowds of Thailand, then Vietnam is an emerging force for tourism in the region that is ripe for exploration.
Travel Analytic Google Destination Insights reported that Vietnam stands as the 7th most searched destination in the world (from March to June) and is the only country in Southeast Asia that appears in the top 20 list.
Of which, there are 3 reasons that make Vietnam one of the most popular vacation destinations in Southeast Asia.
Adjusted Visa Requirements
The first one is the favourable visa policy post the Covid-19. 80 countries, including the U.S., are currently eligible to enter the country using an e-visa. Thereby, from 15th August 2023, e-visas duration will be increased from 30 days to 90 days, valid for multiple entries to meet the demands of international tourists. Citizens of countries that are unilaterally exempted from visas by Vietnam such as Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Russia, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, and the UK, will be granted temporary residence for 45 days (up from 15 days) and can be considered for visa issuance and temporary residence extension according to regulations.
With this adjustment of visa, visitors can feel free to travel to and from Vietnam as part of a wider Asian tour and the application is easy, straightforward, and affordable.
Well-Preserved Natural Beauty
Boasting a long coastline, rich and diverse natural and cultural resources, Vietnam is one of the natural beauty spots in Southeast Asia.
Visitors can explore a rugged mountainous region in the North of the country or move down to the Central and Southern to admire incredibly beautiful beaches.
Vietnam is lush and green with the great effort of preserving cultural heritage sites of the government and people. Famous spots such as Ha Noi, the captivating old-world charm capital; Ha Long Bay, an UNESCO World Heritage Site and popular travel destination in Quang Ninh Province; Hoi An, the ancient town with the history of being the most bustling trade port of Southeast Asia; Hue, the ancient Imperial Capital with the famous royal tombs and feast and many more.
